Αντιδράσεις για εκτέλεση θανατοποινίτη σε ζωντανή μετάδοση – χέγκσεθ: «να μάθουν όλοι ότι υπάρχουν συνέπειες»

Σφοδρές αντιδράσεις στους νομικούς κύκλους, τις οργανώσεις ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων και το Δημοκρατικό Κόμμα έχει προκαλέσει η απόφαση του Πιτ Χέγκσεθ να μεταδοθεί σε ζωντανή μετάδοση εκτέλεση θανατοποινίτη από στρατιωτικό απόσπασμα.

Σύμφωνα με το Πεντάγωνο, ο Αμερικανός πρόεδρος, Ντόναλντ Τραμπ, έχει ήδη δώσει την έγκρισή του για μετάδοση της εκτέλεσης της θανατικής ποινής, σύμφωνα με ρεπορτάζ του BBC.

Καταδικασμένος σε θάνατο είναι ο Νιντάλ Χασάν, ψυχίατρος του αμερικανικού στρατού από τη Βιρτζίνια. Πυροβόλησε και σκότωσε 13 άοπλους στρατιώτες μέσα σε ένα πολυσύχναστο ιατρικό κτίριο στο Φορτ Χουντ το 2009. Έχει ομολογήσει την πράξη του. Πλέον είναι παραπληγικός.

Η εκτέλεση έχει προγραμματιστεί να πραγματοποιηθεί στο Φορτ Χουντ του Τέξας, στις 3 Δεκεμβρίου. Θα είναι η πρώτη στρατιωτική εκτέλεση από εκτελεστικό απόσπασμα μετά το τέλος του Β’ Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου.
